Who are we and just what are we all about ?

Veterans Peer Support has it’s main base in Exeter, Devon.  However we operate all over the County.  The group supports veterans and serving personnel who suffer from PTSD and associated mental health issues, by peer to peer outreach.  We work in association Devon Partnership NHS Trust and all our volunteer outreach workers are trained to recognised standards.  All volunteers have served, or had strong links with the military and many are PTSD sufferers themselves.

VPS offers peer to peer support and by placing veterans with veterans they experience mutual benefits.  This expanding group also offer support to family members.  The group was brought together by John Pattison, (a former UK Serviceman himself) now a Qualified Social Worker and the Veterans Lead for DPT.  The Veterans and family members are keen to offer support to others with similar issues.

They recognise that ‘speaking the same language’ and ‘having a shared experience’

is key to helping people move on in their lives.  This work has been recently

recognised as innovative by the Armed Forces and Veterans Minister in a recent

visit to Parliament.
